GROW Farm volunteering opportunities...

This week, Eve and Sarah from our Engagement Team went over to Totteridge to visit the GROW Farm.

GROW is a fully functioning farm, that works with local schools and community groups to provide sustainable food and outdoor learning opportunities.

We went along to find out how local disabled residents can get involved and benefit from spending time outdoors while meeting new people and learning valuable skills.

We met with one of the founding members, Sarah Alun-Jones, who told us about all the opportunities available.

The main way to get involved is during their Wednesday volunteering sessions, which take place 10am-3pm in Winter (December-January), and 10am-4pm in Spring and Summer (February-November.

Volunteers are welcome to bring carers along if needed, and farm staff are happy to discuss accessibility requirements with you when you include them in your sign up form.

Please be aware that the farm is a bit rough underfoot, but GROW are actively seeking funding to make it more wheelchair accessible.

If you don’t have time to volunteer, but would like to visit GROW Farm, keep an eye on their events calendar, for plant sales, open days and pick your own flowers days.

It’s really worth a visit, with beautiful flowers, a vast array of colourful veggies, and a pen of chickens that we could have watched for days!
