A few weeks ago, we held a short survey for our members to let us know how to improve our services and make them more accessible.

We want to thank everyone who got involved; the feedback was really useful and will inform the next steps for our Communications and User Voice teams. We’d also like to congratulate the raffle winner Anela, who has a £20 Love2Shop voucher on its way in the post.

Most of our members told us they already keep up to date with our monthly newsletter, and many showed interest in signing up to our other newsletters for services we run, such as our Barnet Voice for Mental Health and Healthwatch newsletters.

Out of those surveyed, their most important issues were health care and mental health services, including information about GP practices. From us, they would like to hear more about our services and ways to get involved with disability rights campaigns.

Some members suggested they had a few barriers to getting involved, such as physical pain, mental health concerns and work commitments. So that’s why we’ve already put some of your feedback into action, to become more accessible and break barriers right from the get-go.

So far, we’ve made sure our practices are even more accessible by

  • Hosting our next event in our office, which is well-linked with local public transport
  • Making it easier to join in person meetings via Zoom for those who cannot attend
  • Printing our newsletters for a small group of individuals who do not have internet access
  • Making printed versions of our monthly newsletter available at local libraries from October

Members told us that they’d like to know more about the projects and campaigns we have going on. As a way to achieve that, we’re currently doing a big refresh of our website that will showcase all the work we do, while continuing to include this information in our monthly newsletter.

As we go forward, we will continue to take this feedback into account, making sure we serve our members in the best way we can.
