Barnet Walking Football Team are a friendly and inclusive over 50s football team that meet at the Hive Stadium in Barnet every Thursday and Friday.

Our Communications and Engagement Officer Sarah recently visited the team to get involved and chat to the players afterwards.

The afternoon started with Sarah playing in a match, with her team members supporting her all the way through. At each session, the organisers group players based on level of ability, so you never feel out of your depth. Whether you’re a quick or slow walker, you’re welcome!

The club welcomes anyone over 50, with members in the 80s still getting involved. They have over 150 members and around 60 players attend per session – the biggest of their kind in the UK!

After some friendly competition, players head back to the Hive Stadium Bar for a drink and a chat. It’s a great way to meet other locals and make friends.

If you’re interested in joining the club, take a look at their website and social media profiles. If you want to chat about accessibility, get in touch with Shaun Sherrick by emailing
