Helena Garcia Carrizosa is a Research Associate at the Open University. She is looking for people to join a participatory research group working with the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Wallace Collection and a number of different technology companies. Together they make up the ARCHES Horizon 2020 project.
ARCHES will be working with people with differences and difficulties associated with perception, memory, cognition and communication alongside partners from across Europe. The project runs for 3-years and will develop online resources, software applications and multisensory technologies to enable access to museums and other Cultural Heritage Sites. You can see a video about the project at this link and/or refer to our BSL version.
They are looking for members of the Deaf community or who have a hearing impairment, people who have visual impairment and people with learning difficulties to join the Exploration Group. More details of what this will involve can be found in the attached documents. People can also find out what it involves by coming along to one their regular Friday meetings. The first meeting will be on Friday, January 6th from 11am – 3pm at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Travel expenses will be covered and a light meal is offered at the sessions.
Being part of the ARCHES Exploration Group offers a genuine chance to become involved in all aspects of the project in ways that suits their interests and priorities. Participants will be able to gain insight and experience with museums and technology companies for an extended period of time, whilst influencing issues of access for a wide variety of users. Participants are always welcome to bring a friend or a supporter with them as well, to join in this exciting and enjoyable research project.
